Modern Work Space

JOHN GALVIN

I work with leaders in finance, education, technology, energy, biopharma, and more. This includes everything from PE portfolio companies to multinational public firms.

I help leaders and teams that are in the midst of transformation. This includes new teams, novel strategies, products in-development. The core of my practice is helping leaders create high-performing teams.

I begin the process using The GC Index assessment to get an understanding of how leaders, and their teams, have an impact on their organization. Once we know that, leaders can focus their energy on where they're most likely to succeed.

My first career was as a long-form magazine journalist, and in that role I wrote for many of the largest publications in the country. From the Wired to the New York Times Magazine.

I helped the great spirits marketer and billionaire Sidney Frank (Grey Goose Vodka; Jaegermeister), get into the magazine business, and when he died, I left that world and launched my own business: One Day University.

My then-business-partner and I built One Day U from a single event to a business with a dozen locations and 40,000 adult students. That business got acquired during the Great Recession but that's a long tortured story.

For the last decade-plus I've taken my experience and helped leaders apply their best attributes to create winning teams and businesses.

This is my private practice. I'm also a senior consultant at Decker Communications, so if you're looking for communications advice and consulting, you can find me over there.

You can find me on LinkedIn here.
